Spira Impact, sustainability advisory

Sustainability from obligation to strategy.Resilience as the foundation.

I help scaleups and established companies with a complex organisation make sustainability stick. Not as a separate obligation, but as part of how decisions are made, budgets are set and teams are steered. With numbers that hold up and attention for the people who have to do the work.

The challenge

Where it usually gets stuck

Three bottlenecks come up in almost every conversation. They are recognisable and they can be solved, once you know where to start.

A team working on plans together at a table
01

Pressure without a starting point

Legislation such as the CSRD, customers and investors ask for demonstrable sustainability performance. Many organisations do not know exactly where they stand today.

02

Sustainability beside the strategy

Goals sit apart from the business strategy. They have no permanent place in decision making, budgets and KPIs.

03

Policy without support

Plans are imposed from above while people and culture do not move along. The programme then fades out sooner or later.

The same CO2 measure, an electric lease car or a new supplier selection, lands well in one company and meets resistance in another. Support and good implementation decide whether you get a success or a frustrating cost.

What I offer

Building blocks you combine yourself

You do not have to buy a full programme. Start with the baseline assessment, join in where it hurts, or bring me in temporarily. Click a block for the details.

A

Baseline assessment and quick scan

Fast insight into where your organisation stands. A good first step.

A structured sustainability audit that serves as the starting point for everything after. You get an honest picture, not a sales pitch.

  • CO2 footprint: scope 1, 2, 3 and other influenceable emissions
  • Policy, strategy and implementation
  • Reporting, certifications and audits
  • Awareness and culture, people and resources
  • Analysis of supply chain and customers
Lead time2 to 3 weeks

About 30 hours of work, at a fixed fee we agree beforehand.

B

Sustainability workshops

Your team discovers the potential itself.

For teams who want to find out for themselves where the gains are: process analysis, followed by concrete solutions that fit your work.

  • A single workshop for a quick start with awareness and first ideas
  • Tailored version, including a session where you learn to run the workshop yourself
  • Suitable if you want to keep repeating this internally
FormatSingle or tailored

Agreed together, depending on group size and goal.

C

Policy and strategy

Connected to how you already steer.

Not a separate sustainability document that disappears in a drawer, but a strategy that fits the way your organisation already decides and steers.

  • Policy document with substantiated choices and priorities
  • Roadmap with concrete milestones
  • KPIs to measure progress
  • Presentation for the board and an operational action plan
Lead time4 to 6 months

Scope and price depend on the complexity of your organisation.

D

Action plans and implementation

From strategy to the shop floor.

The strategy translated into measurable targets. Execution stays with your team, I coach and guide. That way knowledge and ownership stay in the organisation.

  • Translating strategy into operational plans
  • Implementing policy and strategy
  • Achieving a new certification or a higher level
CollaborationI coach, you execute

First an action plan, then guidance on an hourly basis.

E

Compliance

CSRD, CO2 Performance Ladder, EcoVadis and ISO 14001.

A well defined programme towards a certificate or a report. Often also a good first step towards something broader.

  • CSRD: setting up reporting and the double materiality assessment
  • CO2 Performance Ladder: from the first step to higher levels
  • EcoVadis: score improvement based on a focused gap analysis
  • ISO 14001: setting up your environmental management system and guidance towards certification
Way of workingHourly basis

Scope differs strongly per certification and maturity, so there is no fixed project price.

F

Interim assignment

Temporary sustainability capacity.

For a vacancy, leave or a peak in workload, or to build a new function from the ground up.

  • Temporary cover of an existing or new sustainability role
  • Continuing and steering ongoing programmes and certifications
  • Coordinating internal stakeholders and external parties
  • Handover after an agreed period, with knowledge secured
CommitmentA few days per week

Usually 3 to 12 months. Hourly or daily rate to be agreed.

G

Digital knowledge productsIn development

Online learning and templates.

My knowledge packaged in products that are not tied to hours worked. Faster to access, also for teams with a smaller budget.

  • Online courses and microlearning, such as CSRD basics and the CO2 Performance Ladder in practice
  • Ready made templates for policy and action plans
  • Train the trainer kit for internal green ambassadors
StatusDeveloped together

I build this together with the first organisations that need it. Interested? Let me know.

I prefer to discuss prices with you rather than put them here. After the first conversation you will know what a programme costs, and you are not committed to anything.

Spira Yoga for teams

Sustainable work only works with energy

Anyone chasing targets year after year burns out. Alongside the sustainability work, I offer programmes through Spira Yoga that help teams recognise stress, breathe calmer and work more resiliently. Separate from a programme or right next to it.

  • Video library and regular live group classes, online or on site
  • Short learning modules on recognising stress and breathing
  • Energizer packages for team days and offsites
  • Train the trainer for internal wellbeing ambassadors

This is a new offering. I am happy to shape it together with you so it fits your organisation.

To Spira Yoga
I

Sustainable and resilient leadership

A combined programme for leadership teams and ESG project teams who want to work on both their sustainability goals and their own resilience. It is where my advisory practice and my yoga practice meet.

The programme consists of modules from policy and action plans (C and D) and from Spira Yoga. We decide on composition and price together.

Why Spira

Four reasons to start with me

1

Sharp analysis, also in the details

A technical, economic and societal perspective, backed by data. My master’s thesis on detecting greenwashing with machine learning is an example of that.

2

Support, not just a report

I can challenge the status quo in a way people follow. That is why I give as much attention to people and culture as to numbers.

3

A calm, people focused way of working

It comes from my yoga practice. Less consultant with a report, more someone who actually takes people along in the process.

4

Between boutique and large firm

The certification knowledge and results focus of a specialised firm, with strategic depth. With one point of contact, short lines and a rate that suits a scaleup.

Approach

Step by step, or just one step

Every organisation chooses which parts are relevant. This is the route if you do everything.

  1. 1

    Intake

We define the scope and what you want to achieve together.

  2. 2

    Baseline

A measurement of the current situation as an honest starting point.

  3. 3

    Policy and strategy

Roadmap and KPIs that connect to how you run the business.

  4. 4

    Action plan

Concrete execution, with me as a coach next to your team.

  5. 5

    Workshop

Can be used at any moment to build support.

    Optional
  6. 6

    Interim

Extra capacity whenever you need it.

    Optional

Who for

For organisations with ambition and complexity

I prefer to work for organisations that are intricate and want to look beyond compliance. A standard package does not fit there. I work tailored, and it is the difficult questions I find most interesting.

Established companies

From 500 employees and over 500 million euro in revenue, with multiple business units, locations or legal entities. Often already subject to the CSRD or close to it.

Scaleups

You are tackling sustainability structurally for the first time. There is no heavy obligation yet, but growing pressure from customers, investors or the chain. You deliberately choose tailored work.

A building under construction with scaffolding and a crane

Construction

Projects, chains and many parties at the table.

Solar panels and wind turbines at sunrise

Energy

A transition with technical and human sides.

Someone working on a laptop with a network map on screen

Digital technology

Fast growth, high customer expectations.

This is where my network is strongest and my affinity greatest. Does your question fit my approach in another sector? Then I am just as open to it.

About me

The sharpness of an analyst, the eye of someone who understands people

I am Kylian Klein Hesselink, the only person behind Spira. You always talk to me, from first conversation to handover.

My foundation is technical and economic: Sustainable Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology and Business Analytics & Management at Erasmus University. On top of that came practice: sustainability in large organisations, setting up my own startups and working in teams of specialists.

What I learned along the way: a report rarely changes anything, people do. I first find out who needs to move along and then build the numbers and the planning around that.

Alongside my advisory practice I teach yoga and breathwork. You notice it in how I work: calm, clear and focused on what people can handle.

Frequently asked questions

What you might want to know

What does a programme cost?

It depends on the scope and the complexity of your organisation. I do a baseline assessment and quick scan at a fixed fee that we agree beforehand. Larger programmes we define after an intake, so you know where you stand.

Do you work on site or remotely?

Both. I prefer to run workshops and team conversations on site. Analysis and reporting work well remotely. We align that with what suits your organisation.

How quickly can we start?

After an introductory call I send you a proposal. If you agree, we set a start date together.

What if I do not know yet what I need?

That is exactly what the introductory call is for. You tell me where you run into trouble, I think along and say honestly whether the baseline assessment is a good start or whether something else fits better.

For which questions am I not the right person?

I am an independent advisor, not a certification body and not a large firm with an army of consultants. If you need a large programme with dozens of people at once, I will say so honestly and think along about a collaboration or another route.

Introduction

Curious where your organisation stands?

A conversation of 30 minutes, without obligation, already gives direction. You tell me where you run into trouble, I think along and tell you honestly whether I am the right person.

What to expect

  • You tell me where you run into trouble, I ask questions.
  • You hear honestly whether and how I can help.
  • You do not need to prepare anything and there is no obligation afterwards.
